Kitchen Table Talks: Thriving instead of surviving

29 september  2024
MUCE - Ghent

This was our first-ever Extended Family community event. It was an insightful discussion with Ama Kissi and Hervé Clément Shema, moderated by Leen Kanza Van Reusel. The event brought together an incredible group of people, all dedicated to openly sharing, reflecting, and learning as we explored what it truly means to build a better, more supportive future for POC artists and industry professionals.

At the heart of the conversation were powerful questions: « How can we create systems that genuinely empower people of color in the creative industries? What does it take to build spaces that reflect diversity, intersectionality, and real care?»

Together, we unpacked how art, power, collective care, well-being, and politics all intersect, while looking at what’s truly necessary to build an industry that not only includes, but celebrates people of color. It was an incredible afternoon of deep reflection, community connection, and powerful insights. Thank you to everyone who showed up and contributed to this important dialogue.
